Lorraine Gregory CEO Named to

L.I. Community Foundation Board

Gregory P. Demetriou, CEO of the Lorraine Gregory Communications Group, has been appointed to the Long Island Community Foundation (LICF) Board of Advisors. A division of The New York Community Trust, LICF identifies community needs and awards grants to improve the Long Island area.

"Greg is one of our region's most respected and accomplished business leaders," said LICF Executive Director David Okorn. "His commitment to the well-being of Long Island communities is exceptional and a perfect asset to our Foundation."

Over more than two decades, Greg and his wife, Lorraine, have expanded their business from a direct mail company into a respected comprehensive marketing communications enterprise that serves a wide range of businesses and organization throughout the region.

In addition to direct mail services, the company now offers printing, an online envelope store, promotional items and a wide range of online marketing services.

While growing the business, Greg found the time to work with numerous non-profit organizations, such as the Association of Fund Raising Professionals Long Island Chapter, which honored him as the 2008 Outstanding Fund Raising Volunteer of the Year. He is also a member of the Business Advisory Committee of AHRC Suffolk and has volunteered for numerous other organizations, including the Bethpage Rotary Club and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

"I am honored and feel privileged to be part of LICF," said Greg. "The organization's work is very important to the well-being of our community."

Email in a Bottle

According to Wendy Goldstein, Director of Business Development at Lorraine Gregory Communications Group, which is an accredited Constant Contact provider, "Email marketing adds great value to your marketing efforts and can effectively build and enhance relationships with prospects and customers."

Benefits of incorporating email marketing include:

  • Keeping your audience in the loop on a regular basis and fostering loyalty.
    • Don't abuse the contacts by sending trivial or repetitive updates.
  • Driving return visits to your company's website.
    • Include a link back to your web site. Readers are more likely to click through than type in a web address.
  • Targeting that is data driven.
    • Email allows for segmentation and other ways to customize your message, down to an individual recipient basis.
  • Encouraging recipients to act immediately.
    • It can promote sales, offer downloads, answer queries, etc.
  • Informing recipients in a timely fashion.
    • Email can send recipients to offline stores and events.
  • Improving brand awareness.
    • With proper subject lines and logo use, company awareness is reinforced.

Here are some tips from HubSpot that you can use in your next email campaign:

  • Click through rate (CTR) is higher when using the recipient's first name in the subject line.
  • 65% of recipients prefer emails with images.
  • Saturday has the highest CTR, followed closely by Sunday.
  • 6 AM has the highest CTR of any hour.
  • Most 'unsubscribes' occur on Tuesdays.

Digital Printing Cements New Era

of Direct Mail

DigitalColor

With the explosion of digital technology, direct mail has entered a new era, providing better, faster and less expensive production.

Digital printing has many advantages, including:

  • Faster response time due to minimal requirements for press setup
  • The ability to produce small-run jobs without the expensive, time-consuming processes of traditional printing
  • The capacity to offer on-demand printing with faster turnaround times
  • Previously unmatched customization through the use of variable data, which allows each printed piece to carry different, personalized information

"The digital printing revolution has allowed us to offer clients more ways to increase the power of their message," said Gregory P. Demetriou, CEO of the Lorraine Gregory Communications Group. "It's another example of the adaptability of direct mail - a virtual revolution that is propelling the use of the medium into the next generation."
